A humorous story about a girl who treats her beloved pet rabbit like a toy, until she experiences a vivid dream where their roles are reversed and the girl is now the pet of her giant bunny! This enlightening and entertaining tale, told with charming illustrations, teaches children about the importance of treating animals with respect and allows children to practise their early literacy skills. Apparently the picture-book debut of Yang Dong, an expatriate Chinese author/artist living in the UK, Mine! is a cute little book, one that can be used to launch a discussion with very young children about the correct way to care for and interact with the animals in our charge. The text is simple - no more than a phrase per page - and the artwork sweet. I'm not sure, all told, that this one was entirely to my taste, aesthetically speaking - somehow, it was just a little too cute - but I think it will work quite well for the intended audience. Recommended to anyone looking for children's stories that can be used in humane education. ( )
