In a complete contrast to the other books in this series, this story is told from the perspective of the humans, leaving out the feeling that the story was written with horses in mind. If you were to dive deeply into coming up with reasons for this, you could probably get away with saying that the gradual decline of horse perspective reflects the gradual taming of Dragon and the other horses over the span of the books, but I found the contrast in storytelling a little too sharp even to follow that line of thought. I found myself missing the horse mentality in the storytelling far too often. Still, the realities of starting a horse breeding business seem to be told well enough and the characters were definitely believable. As you read this story, you get to discover what it is to begin in the business and how it is to compete, with just enough action and drama that you still find yourself reading to the end to discover what comes on the next page. As with the other books in the series though, the final moments of the book are left more to your imagination than are actually told, giving a sense of not really ending.
