I really enjoyed this book. The main things that I enjoyed were both the humor throughout the story and the emotions shown in the pictures. First, I liked the humor, especially between Lucy and Snoopy. For example, Lucy says, "I suppose I should tell you this right now. In our house, animals are not allowed on the couch. So you'll have to get off!" There is a think bubble for Snoopy that says, "Who, me?" This shows sarcasm and most likely what a dog really feels like when it is told to get off of the furniture. Another example is when Lucy says, "And another thing, in our house we don't allow dogs to beg at the table!" Snoopy has another thought bubble that says, "I'm not begging...I was just sitting here, and happened to be facing your way." This is funny. It was a misinterpretation on Lucy's part and there is definitely sarcasm evident because Snoopy cannot actually talk to Linus and Lucy. That is unrealistic. Next, I enjoyed seeing the emotions shown in the pictures. For example, Lucy has an angry face and her mouth is open as if she is yelling. She says, "And you can't roast marshmallows in the backyard at two o'clock in the morning!" The exclamation point adds even more emphasis to her irritated state at this time. Another example is when Snoopy looks so sad and is holding onto Charlie Brown's leg and thinks, "Don't leave me! Please don't leave me! I'm being abandoned! My life is ruined..."

The big idea/main message of the story is that everyone has feelings, even animals. Also, do not leave someone you love (even a pet) with someone else who is clueless about the animal. Care for an animal as if it is your child and is 100% dependent on you for everything. ( )
