A group of ne'er do wells are hired to bring a shipment of very special artifacts to the mansion in the middle of the night. Marge and Pascale were actually hired, and massive mean guy Declan pushed his way into the high-paying job. He'll regret that, because the trio is met by the mansion librarian, who terrifies them with the backstory of each item they are delivering, and why it belongs in the haunted mansion. ( ) This was another fun installment in the Tales from the Haunted Mansion series. I don’t think it was as good as the second one, but it was still enjoyable. The tales in this book were not as scary or chilling like in the previous volume. They were entertaining but didn’t stand out. The tales focused on the stories of some of the objects on the ride like the breathing door and the piano. Given the title of the book, I wish it would have focused on the backstories of the hitchhiking ghosts. That would have been awesome. But the hitchhiking ghosts do make an appearance. As usual, I love the style of the book. It is made to look like an old book both inside and outside. I also liked the nods to the ride. Overall, if you are a fan of this series or the ride, then you will probably like this book! Much lighter fare than the previous two installments of this series. It's the same structure: people go to the haunted mansion, librarian tells them stories. But these aren't nearly as dark; there is even the occasional happy ending! And to be honest, it was a little disappointing. Good YA horror is hard to come by. Third in the Haunted Mansion series by Disney Books. This one has three shady characters making a delivery to the mansion. They deliver three packages which end up being a mummy's sarcophagus, a breathing door and a possessed piano each of which is one of the stories. The first story has a musical prodigy stealing the work of a recently decease woman and the revenge of the true author from beyond the grave. The second is a new twist on the mummy story. Tea that has the power to restore the dead to life bring a mummy back to life. The last is a door that was made out of a sacred tree in Salem. The door actually makes a portal to Salem just prior to the witch trials. This one is much more cerebral than the previous ones. Certainly not a detraction and am looking forward to seeing more in the series. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

The eerie Amicus Arcane has returned to share more spooky stories from beyond the grave. His frightening fictions begin when three mysterious crates are delivered to the Haunted Mansion. But beware the unearthly artifacts that lie beneath their lids: a petrified piano, a macabre mummy, and a demonic door are waiting for you inside. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
