Aucun Actuellement, il n'y a pas de discussions au sujet de ce livre. Non stop terror filled moments circling and twisting This was a nightmare that I couldn't wake from, one that slipped from one horror to the next, no rest, no time to rest, just the next shutter felt down deep in your soul. There was some really twisted, stuff in these pages, and I loved it. Many times in this book I cringed and found myself wanting to turn away but unable to do so. Read with all your lights on. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
Follow the Witness as she travels through a perpetual series of nightmares, haunted by a mixture of pernicious serial killers and their imprisoned, undead victims, known as preta. As she wanders through time and memories shared by the killers and their victims, she fights to solve the puzzle of their connection to each other and to herself. Her only hope of salvation lies in connecting key victims to the souls who can rescue them, thus waking her from the nightmare, but one killer follows the next, bringing forth a new set of victims, a new score of preta, and immediately landing her in a new terror. When the story opens you feel the terror and confusion. The jump from scene to scene without transition helps with this emotion. It is immediately set up as a horror and suspense story. No matter how fast or far or out of reach that our protagonist runs, the killer is right there. You feel the fear and torment but I didn't feel anything else. The author plays with the negative emotions well but the good feeling or what would have been moments of relief in the story didn’t convey as well. With the extreme downs, I was looking for those ups to bring me back. The narrative between action didn’t bring as much relief as I needed to prepare for the next “what the hell” moment.
Dexter Morgenstern is good at horror, and the ending was unique. This set up of a tragic eternal victim causes you to root for something we usually don’t want for our protagonist. However, every good jump scare needs a recovery. That was lost in Eternal Victim. It's one confusing and shock after another that made the story exhausting and at times hard to follow and continue. (
