I won this book on LibraryThing (from Member Giveaways) in exchange for my honest review, but unfortunately it only came in one format, which I was unable to access.

I like how this starts out with selling the high points of Japan. It gives advice about different methods of transportation that are available in Japan and more common and how to use them. Tips on budget-friendly food and has a great run-down of hostels, love hotels and other sleeping accomadations and descriptions of what to expect with them.
This book gives a nice and easy run through of different aspects of visiting that one should worry about. The chapters are broken down very well. Provides valuable information about stuff that you might already know and a lot that you might not have thought about, such as the necessity of adapters when it comes to using electronics and charging them. This is the perfect guide to start out with making a trip to Japan affordable. ( )

This work, a travel guide meant to help travelers plan their trip to Japan on a budget, is a good place to start when planning a trip, as long as that traveler already has some idea as to what they might want to do. For activities, the most time in the book is spent on museums, parks, hiking and places to find the cheapest food (usually a convenience store). Within the first ten pages of the book, there is a detailed guide on how to obtain a room at a 'love hotel' (in the US, this would be a 'by-the-hour' hotel).

If one is looking for a more in-depth guide for travelling in Japan, there are certainly others out there, but if you are looking for ideas and a sense of what travel in Japan may be like, this book is a good place to start. ( )
