We meet Riley while he’s working as a high-powered executive assistant temp at a cosmetics company. From the beginning, the drama between the various characters at the company was apparent. Suddenly… his boss des and that changed everything. Because who walks in? None other than his high school crush, Tad. Now things really heat up. I really liked both Riley and Tad. Riley was smart and confident...even if he did apologize or felt he needed to justify why he was “only a temp” a tad too much. He was funny. Through all the drama, he remained true to his character all the while trying to find the bright side of everything. He was shocked to see his ex-crush walk in and find out that he was now a detective. Riley was more than skin-deep – and seeing his evolution with his own self-worth, his interaction with his family and of course, with Tad – was truly fun part of the story… especially along with the suspense. Tad’s character could have been a bit more developed, but that was more than likely the point of the story. Tad was a tough guy in school, but now he's been transformed into a cop, but he just can’t stop his renewed attraction to Riley. This wasn’t the most topsy/turvy, who done it story I have ever read... but there were a few very interesting twists. One of my favorite things about the book, was how everything fit together and tied up at the end. Nothing felt out of place or over-done, which is always welcome. This is a good book for anyone who loves the high school/adulthood plot line. It's also an interesting murder mystery with a delightful "Happy Ever After." ( ) aucune critique | ajouter une critique
Riley Parker: temp, twink, geek⦠sleuth? Maybe Riley isn't living up to his full potential, but being a temp executive assistant suits him. He's never bored at work, he's got friends who let him geek out, and he's got a carefully crafted twink exterior⦠which might be getting constrictive now that he's on the other side of thirty. Life isn't perfect, but it's comfortable. It all unravels when he takes a job working for a tea-obsessed cosmetics queen, the owner of Gautier Cosmetics. During the launch party for a new product, Riley finds his boss dead under suspicious circumstances, and the homicide detective is none other than Tadeo Martin, Riley's high school obsession who never knew he was alive. Tad drafts Riley to get the scoop on the inner workings of Gautier, and for Riley, it's like a drug. His natural inquisitiveness is rewarded with more and more Tad. Unfortunately, his snooping puts him in the running for two other roles: suspect and victim. The killer doesn't care which. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
