Fiction. African American Fiction. Literature. HTML:Janelle Marshall's life is finally going according to plan. Her perfect, upscale careerâ??and her perfect, successful boyfriendâ??will make her future as secure and predictable as her childhood never was. And with luck, Little Bill, the grandfather who raised her, will someday understand why she'd rather play it safe than be impulsive. But just when she should be happiest, she gets a distressing call: Little Bill has gone missing. Now Janelle must go to the one place she's long avoidedâ??the tiny mountain town of Mammoth Falls, South Dakota.

Tracking down her eccentric grandfather is easier said than done, and Janelle has no choice but to stay as long as it takes. Yet little by little, she's drawn in by the unique town, the helpful locals, and their distinctly straightforward ways. Before long, she realizes that those who also care about Little Bill are struggling with their own vulnerabilitiesâ??and secrets as deep as the mistakes they try to set right. As Janelle learns to draw on their support and hard-won experience, she'll challenge her past, come to terms with her presentâ??and chart her own surprising course forward.

Vibrant, heartfelt, and uplifting, Between Lost and Found is about gaining the courage to take chances, learning to let go, and rediscovering the familyâ??and the selfâ??yo

This is a Goodreads giveaway. This was not my kind of book. Maybe its the genre or the fact that the characters were one-dimensional and fit every stereotype (the "mother-in-law", the angry Native American daughter, the crazy religious ladies etc.). I also found the dialogues between the characters to be stunted and the story predictable. I didn't like the use of the word "baby" as an endearment to a grown woman, especially as it was used quite often, along with numerous other cliches. On a positive note, there were some sections that were amusing and for that I give it 2 stars. ( )

I found this to be a sweet story about love and forgiveness. Janelle, Connie, and Sam are all feeling guilty about a choice in their lives. The story held my interest and had a nice ending. I think I could have predicted the ending but sometimes that is just what the book (or maybe even you) needs. ( )

A grandpa's well meaning but misguided call for help from does bring his granddaughter Janelle home to Mammoth Falls, South Dakota. The picture perfect life, job and boyfriend on the East Coast that she has worked so hard for are left behind as she settles into Little Bill's cabin, realizing the eccentric relative really is missing. Time actually moved pretty quickly in the book, and being that Mammoth Falls is so small, many of the townspeople were very helpful. This was a good summer read, all about taking some chances and finding what means home. ( )
