Fiction. Mystery. Thriller. HTML:"Opening this book is like arming a bombâ??the suspense is relentless and the payoff is spectacular. Lead character Alice Vega is sensationalâ??I want to see lots more of her."â??Lee Child, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Jack Reacher series
/> As addictive, cinematic, and binge-worthy a narrative as The Wire and The Killing, Two Girls Down introduces Louisa Luna as a thriller writer of immense talent and verve.
When two young sisters disappear from a strip mall parking lot in a small Pennsylvania town, their devastated mother hires an enigmatic bounty hunter, Alice Vega, to help find the girls. Immediately shut out by a local police department already stretched thin by budget cuts and the growing OxyContin and meth epidemic, Vega enlists the help of a disgraced former cop, Max Caplan. Cap is a man trying to put the scandal of his past behind him and move on, but Vega needs his help to find the girls, and she will not be denied.
With little to go on, Vega and Cap will go to extraordinary lengths to untangle a dangerous web of lies, false leads, and complex relationships to find the girls before time runs out, and they are gone… (plus d'informations)

I'm all about a strong female lead, but Vega's personality and actions sometimes bordered on ridiculous. Overall though this was a great story with an ending I honestly hadn't expected. ( )

Alice Vega, a PI who specializes in missing persons cases, teams up with ex-police officer Cap to look for two missing girls. I found this fast-paced and gripping, and I enjoyed the interactions between Cap and Vega. It got a bit overcomplicated by the end and could perhaps have been shorter, and Alice could have been bit less prone to violence, but I am keen to read the others in this series ( )

This novel is the first in the Alice Vega series and covers Vega's back ground, and the creation of her partnership with former cop Max Caplan. We also learn about Vega's relationship with her "researcher" (The Bastard) and also the beginnings of the relationship between the private investigators and the police. We learn quite a lot of background about both Vega and Caplan.

Two young girls go missing from the car park while their mother is in a shopping centre. With the police, Vega and Caplan discover that the missing girls are the most recent in a number of cases. As Vega and Caplan come to terms with creating their own set of rules, between them they bring fresh eyes and strategies to following up leads.

This is a real page turner. Recommended. ( )

This book was pretty good. It had a confusing start because it switches between two different points of view and it doesn't make much sense. Once it gets farther into the story and you understand what's going on and who the people are, it's much better. There was good character development, you start to get a handle on what makes each one tick. You feel for the family of the missing girls, and you feel for the investigators trying to figure it out. Sometimes things didn't really make much sense or truly move the story along, but it gave you a better understanding of that person. There are a lot of characters to try and remember, and more than once I didn't know who exactly they were referring to because I couldn't keep them straight. In the long run, it didn't really matter because they would re-visit the bullet points of meeting that person and refresh your memory, which was helpful. There was a lot of suspense and twists and turns that I didn't see coming.

All in all, this was a good read. It took me longer to get through it than I thought it would (because I just got a puppy and started going to the gym so I don't have as much time to read as I used to). If you like a good mystery or whodunit, this book is probably for you. A lot of suspense, hints to what happened, finding the puzzle pieces and putting them all together. So, if you find yourself with the opportunity to read this, I would definitely recommend it. ( )
