Looking forward to a quiet life and a full stomach, mail-order bride Rebecca Rice is pleased to marry her shopkeeper intended, Mr. Fordham, until the justice of the peace calls him Thaddeus, not Theodore--proceeded by the title Deputy. When the newlyweds realize they've married the wrong partners with similar names, an annulment seems in order--and fast, since Rebecca's true intended is impatient to claim her as his own, not to mention Rebecca would never marry a lawman like her father. But when the legalities take longer than expected, Rebecca wonders if Tad wasn't the right husband for her all along...Journey now to Ruby City, Idaho, of 1866 and meet a couple who were too quick to say "I do."… (plus d'informations)

My Heart Belongs in Ruby City, Idaho: Rebecca's Plight by Susanne Dietze, © 2017

Ruby City, Idaho ~
May 1866, Owyhee County, Idaho Territory

My Review:

Rebecca had a surprise when she got to town! This stagecoach stop will change her life and those nearby. Knowing she was to be a mail-order bride is one thing ~ being one is another!
Quickly married, she finds she has the wrong intended. Both women with the same pronunciation ~ Rebecca and Rebekah ~ sought by two Ruby City cousins. The first one there gets her! The shopkeeper is a little too tardy on his arrival.

Rebecca bit her lip. "I arrived and he was there to greet me, a Mr. T. Fordham waiting for a Rebecca."
--My Heart Belongs in Ruby City, Idaho: Rebecca's Plight, 23

Unraveling the mix-up becomes a chore ~ or is it a time to get acquainted?

This story will keep you on your toes. What will happen next? Past experiences cause a delay in being open to the present. Very well written, this author has put in a lot of turns and great secondary characters who bring charm to this Rebecca's life. A sweetness that she discovers unarms her defenses. Just as you think you have it all sorted out, another adventure begins changing the whole scope of things ~ one thing that keeps them all together is the great eats at Mrs. Croft's restaurant. A lot of action takes place there besides the cookin'.

I loved this story. Very active and expressive with deep thinking and plans set aside for Truth. A dividing of intent and purpose becomes the very supportive realization pulse. People matter. I liked how it was all sorted out giving care to those who deeply needed it.

***Thank you, Barbour Publishing, for inviting me to join Barbour's Review Crew for this terrific story by Susanne Dietze! So enjoyed it! This review was written in my own words. No other compensation was received.*** ( )

I believe that my life would have to be very horrible for me to ever be a mail order bride. This was how Ruby felt. She leaves her home to travel to Ruby City, Idaho to marry a shopkeeper. I don't know what I would have done if I ended up marrying the wrong person. At least you thought you knew who you were marrying through the letters that were written. This story made me laugh and cry a little. I received a copy of this book from Barbour for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will. ( )

Title: My Heart Belongs in Ruby City, Idaho: Rebecca’s Plight
Author: Susanne Dietze
Pages: 256
Year: 2017
Publisher: Barbour Books
My rating 5 out of 5 stars.
The story starts with an interesting twist where a woman comes to a town to marry a man she has been writing to in response to an advertisement. Nothing unusual, right? Except Rebecca finds herself married to the wrong man after they have said their vows! From there, the reader will be pulled into the tale of how Rebecca’s fears of losing another loved one cause her to desire an annulment immediately. However, the judge won’t be in town for a couple more months!
So, Rebecca and her husband, Tad, who is a deputy, go through some interesting encounters with townsfolk as well as meeting Tad’s cousin who Rebecca was supposed to marry. As I read further and further in the book, I just came to love the small town and delighted in the way the author brought about a romantic ending! I cannot wait to see if another novel will be published from Barbour in the series My Heart Belongs, as it was very entertaining novel!
Disclosure of Material Connection: I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review. ( )

I feel like I just time traveled back to the late 1800s in the Wild West. What wonderful writing and vivid details the author gave which helped me visualize Ruby City, Idaho. The town was filled with places like a mercantile, boardinghouse , and a sheriff. The people in the town were funny at times and devious at other times. I could see the dust as horses trotted by and women hurrying to buy meager supplies to feed their families.

Rebecca Rice has traveled to Ruby City to get married. It sure wasn't an easy stagecoach ride when something happens to shake her up. I loved her spunk and trust in the Lord. After arriving at her destination, a mixup happens and she marries the wrong man. Oh I laughed so hard when this happened. It takes her a bit to figure out her mistake. I guess when you have only corresponded with your future husband you are bound to misunderstand the name being said as you say I do.

I loved how Rebecca fit in with the townspeople and although she married the wrong man, she still honored her intention to fix her mistake. There is plenty of excitement in the town with an upcoming Fourth of July celebration and did I mention an outlaw gang may visit? I loved both of the gentleman who wanted Rebecca's hand in marriage. Will Rebecca get an annulment and marry the person she came to Ruby City to marry? What happens to the man she mistakenly married? This is a very enjoyable story that made me not want it to end. I was glued to the pages as Rebecca seeks love. Grab your copy of this adventure to the late 1800s where two men wait for their future bride only to find a woman who will changes many lives.

Loved the concept of this book right from the beginning, a mix-up of names and a quick mail order bride marriage. Um only to discover the wrong cousin married the wrong Rebecca, to funny, talk about not knowing one another before getting married.
We are in a Ruby City, Idaho, an old West mining town, and I had a feeling by the end of the book it would no longer exist, but have no fear, the next town was only a mile away, although it took hours to get there, at least it seemed to when there was an annulment on the horizon.
We all are quick to judge, and these people are no exception, but underneath are loving hearts, and Rebecca finds some that are about to become life long friends. Who couldn’t blame Corny not liking this pretty woman coming in to marry the man she seems to have her heart set on, so she acted like a scorned woman.
We have quite an assortment of characters in this small town, and your heart will go out to some of them, wish we could continue here, there are a lot more stories.
An enjoyable read from beginning to end and fun read, and one that will fly quickly as you page turn.
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Barbour Books, and was not required to give a positive review. ( )
