Nothing earth shaking, and Mac's constant worrying about Emma & Trevor is super annoying, but it's a sweet read. ( ) The opening chapter of this book had me laughing! I knew then that I was going to enjoy Mac and her friends. Mac is going home for the first time since she was left at the altar and is still embarrassed by it. I also like this small Maine town that was very nicely described in this book. mac is the type of character that I always enjoy reading about , funny , tough but lovable. Gavin is a veterinarian and seems quite interested in Mac , he also sounds very dreamy and I found myself wondering why Mac was not dating him in High School..... Then to make this book an even more enjoyable experience , enter Tulip a runaway/stray puppy who just steals my heart! Mac takes a bit longer to fall in love with Tulip but eventually the bond is formed. I appreciated the author writing about animal cruelty in this story and how it is intolerable, I know that it is a tough subject to introduce in this type of book but kudos to Jenn McKinlay for doing an excellent job! There were quite a few scrapes and scuffles involving Mac that were hilarious, I found myself laughing out loud a few times! All in all a very enjoyable, heartwarming book. I am happy that this is the first book in the series and there will be more to follow. This review was originally posted on Cindy's Book Binge Mackenzie (Mac) has returned to her hometown of Bluff Point Maine after a seven year absence. She was left at the alter and was so embarrassed, she ran. She has been asked to stand up in her best friend's wedding and she can't say no. She is sure that what happened seven years earlier, a one-night stand with her friend's brother, has been forgotten. Even though Emma does not know about the night, Gavin has never forgotten it. Mac tries not to be alone with Gavin, but it does not work out that way. With the help of a stray puppy named Tulip, Gavin and Mac find their way to each other. An enjoyable romance with some great characters, especially Mac's crazy aunts that she realized she had missed very much. There was some humour as well as a discussion about Animal Cruelty and being a responsible pet owner, that made this book more than just a romance. The camaraderie between these friends, the loyalty and the easy banter was very enjoyable. A great easy to read story. I really enjoyed this book. It's a sweet, charming romance that held my interest throughout. I'm a huge animal lover, so this was right up my alley. The romance between Mac and Gavin was a bit predictable, but I don't see that as a bad thing. There were enough plot twists to hold my interest as I read the book, and I was rooting for Mac and Gavin's (and Tulip's!) happily ever after from the outset. I would definitely recommend this as a great summertime beach read. Thanks to First to Read for the advance copy. With the assistance of the occasion of her best friend's wedding, Mac returns to her childhood home in Maine only to bump into the man that she had been running away from years ago. He is now the town veterinarian which she finds out when in need of a vet to tend to a stray puppy she has found. So...boy meets dog and girl. This is a sweet, innocent (if somewhat steamy) romance that will put a gigantic smile on your face. My thanks to the author and the Penguin First to Read program for a complimentary copy. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
