As a school psychologist about to start her first full time position at an elementary school this books was so important and eye opening to me. I have spent the last 3 years of my life dedicated to learning about the systematic approach we need to take when working with kids, especially those who are the “troublemakers”. This book highlights the importance of knowing who a child is outside of the classroom, and how that interacts with their lives as students. The analogy of canaries in a coal mine was particularly a highlight for me.
