Murdered Gods is book two by Marina Finlayson and narrated by Hollie Jackson. Our gal now goes looking for the mother who kicked her out to ask her questions only to find herself in the middle of trouble. Shadow shifters are capturing gods for their power but they need the ring our gal has on her finger! Super exciting! Narration was spot on!!! Lexi had just gotten into a whole heap of trouble over a stolen magical ring in the last book, although with a hot fireshaper, Jake, around, there were some compensations, too. (and he obviously has some feelings for Lexi too. (he either wants to Kiss her or kill her). But the ring she stole is doing some odd things, not to mention Lexi's own unusual powers. Controlling animals seems pretty tame when you’re surrounded by shifters in a world ruled by powerful shapers, but where did her ability come from? Lexi decides to go back home to the human territories to ask the one person who should know - her mom, who had thrown her out. Accompanied only by her faithful pal Syl,a were cat, who refuses to take human form, Lexi heads off on what should be a simple journey. But she reaches one roadblock after another. With some really angry people on her tail and a lot of mysterious goings on back home, I was sucked into the story big time, and I just couldn’t put the book down. I'm not going to spoil it for you, but it's a book you won't be able to put down. It's fast paced, has a interesting Greek mythology angle even more so then with the first book. But you can be sure that there’s a ton of action, lots of interesting twists and a great surprise ending that I won't divulge. I've just got the next Kindle book in the series, Rivers of Hell. Thanks Marina for such an interesting series. Jack Murphy aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Lexi didn't set out to steal a god's ring, but when a magic artifact starts trying to talk to you, what's a girl supposed to do? She's always had the ability to talk to animals, but this new development amps up the crazy. Now she's afraid her power is out of control and she's losing her mind. The only person who could possibly reassure her that she's not going mad is her mother, who has always refused to discuss the source of Lexi's strange ability. Now that the jewelry is getting chatty, maybe she'll finally spill the beans. Unfortunately, going home means a trip back to the human territories, and Lexi only just made it out of there alive last time. She's hoping for a quick visit, but with a god hell-bent on retrieving the ring and a fire shaper she might have accidentally betrayed on her tail, life is about to get horribly complicated-for her and everyone she cares about. Especially the first half is incredibly slow and could be condensed into a single page.
Not only that but the MC stumbles around in the dark without making any progress almost the entire time.
The MC has not the slightest clue about what's going on and tries to figure it out by pretending she does.
If done well this could have been very suspenseful but the book misses basically all the important cornerstones such a setup requires to work.
Even worse, this book answers only the most obvious of the many questions it raises.
All in all a very unsatisfying read. ( )
