A troubled young woman shows up at the lodge, claiming that the new bishop is going to marry her. This is a surprise to everyone, but especially to Christine, since she and the bishop have become close. Preacher Amos seems to have undergone a personality change and has become judgmental and harsh in his treatment of the bishop and the new arrival. The story is an interesting one, with problems and tragedies as well as good things and blessings occurring to the people in the community. ( ) Charlotte Hubbard and the Promise Loge series are totally new to me, and while this new order of Amish seemed to be more liberal than the Old Order books I have read before, it certainly did not stop me from enjoying the story. I give full credit to the author for introducing mental health issues into the book, as it seems like one of the subjects that Anish Romance tends to stay away from. I also really enjoyed the spin of Bishop Monroe Burkholder (and main love interest) having secrets, it gives this book that thrilling little morsel that we all want to read in a romance book. The idea of Monroe and Christine fall in love with each other (basically) at first sight is also a wonderful breath of fresh air, and I loved it. This book really surprised me as I tend to be more traditional in my Christian fiction, but if you only read one Amish romance this year, I totally recommend Weddings at Promise Lodge. I give Wedding at Promise Lodge 4 stars. Ok I loved this book, and have my first and last months rent ready plus the deposit, and if only it wasn’t a fictional place, I’d move in tomorrow. The new Bishop is about to be put to a test, if you remember he arrived suddenly just before Christmas, but has been accepted into this Community, and he arrived at just the right time. There are now sparks flying between him and Christine, and you will soon be rooting for these two. Of course, life is not always smooth sailing, and when a young woman arrives claiming that Monroe has to marry her as he ruined her, that sure gets every ones attention. Then there is Rosetta, the older sister, and Truman, a Mennonite, they seem to love each other, but have different churches, and can they choose one, or will can they be accepted for living separate church lives, not under normal circumstances, but we hope for the best. There are some new romances here, and some that are just not meant to be, despite one of the party wanting it, and we get to attend a few weddings. The author has included some yummy recipes at the end of this book, mostly those that you will be drooling about while reading this story, and they do a lot of eating of wonderfully described food. Now I want more answers and more stories from Promise Lodge, I love this place. I received this book from the Author and Goddess Fish Promotions, and was not required to give a positive review. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
