I fell madly in love with this book when Sheila's dad brought his grown daughter, and mother of two, a new puppy. The puppy needed a new forever home and a loving family, and her dad knew where to find one. She writes as if she is telling this to a good friend.

The book is about the dog's life growing then getting old, same as the dad. There are some really funny parts, and some sad ones. Her dad died two days before my beloved cat, the same year, and three weeks before my beloved grandma, both were the loves of my lives. So, I really bawled at that one, and knew her pain at that time. It still hurts me to this day.

Some of my favorite parts were when the husband approved of the dog and they had to wait til the next day to get a vet and groomer, when dna testing proved what the mixed breed dog really was (as if it mattered to the loving family), how the dad would drive over before work and ride along to take the kids to school, and how the dog found a chair near a window on the second floor so he could know what is going on in the neighborhood.
