“Who Will Tuck Me In Tonight?” by Carol Roth is one of my very favorites. I read this to my boys over and over again and never lost interest. The illustrations are pencil and color drawn and fill the entire page. Additionally, the illustrator uses earth tones to support the bedtime theme and the worry of Woolly. The illustrations capture the main idea of the limited text that is written in a rhyming pattern. For example, “I will, I will said Mrs. Cow. Don’t you worry, I know how. Everything will be all right. I’ll tuck you in read snug and tight”. Additionally, each character that comes in trying to tuck Woolly in to bed, is a farm animal. The book pushes readers to deal with different perspectives and tough situations because Woolly is very sad and struggling with his worry of who will tuck him in. Each time he is tucked in he replies “No, No! That’s not right. Oh, who will tuck me in tonight?” This phrase is repeated over and over and readers can participate by reading along with you. The big idea is Woolly not being able to find his Mom and wondering who will tuck him in. ( )
