Fiction. Literature. Romance. Suspense. HTML:A battle for control turns explosive as a beautiful con woman takes a bad-boy biker hostage in this edgy, seductive novel set in the world of Everything I Left Unsaid (“Toe-curlingly sensual.”—Katy Evans) and The Truth About Him (“Absolutely one-click worthy”—J. Kenner).

The only thing that matters to me is rescuing my sister from the drug-cooking cult that once enslaved us both. I’ve run cons my whole life, and I’ll use my body to get whatever I need. Max Daniels is the last connection I have to that world, the one person reckless enough to get involved. Besides, now that his brothers have turned on him, he needs me too.

The deal was supposed to be simple: a place to hide in exchange for rescuing my sister. Now he’s my prisoner. Totally at my mercy. But I’m the one captivated. Enthralled. Doing everything he asks of me until I’m not sure who’s in control.

We both crave the heat. The more it hurts, the better. But what if Max wants a different life now, to leave the game . . . to love me? I thought I knew better than to get burned. Now I’m in too deep to pull away. And the crazy thing is . . . I don’t want to.

This is the third in a series, although I would call the first two a single book and advise you buy them together to avoid screaming at the end of the first one.

This one is Joan's story, and it was as rough and damaged and messed up and strong and fierce as she is. You want a strong female protagonist? Joan's your woman. Nothing about this story is simple or easy, including the man she loves. Buckle up. ( )

Feeling lazy about reviews...this book was far better for me than the prior two in the series. I'm not sure how I'm taking the
reformed bad boy going ultra reformed and basically getting away with all those dirty deeds, or just "poof" he walks away but sigh, it's romance I do love Joan. I liked Max a whole lot as well. The trouble for me with MC romances are any 1% I've seen IRL (or on documentaries) never look like Max is supposed to...so my brain just intermittently flips to those images of the couple I've seen here or there, and let me just say this, they don't look like your typical romance lead.

But this isn't really about the book. I enjoyed the writing, the story and characters were engaging, and ultimately, it's a good love story. Family dynamics also made me a little leaky in my eyes cause that's the kind of mood I'm in. Sex scenes were hot, hot, hot, and I'm starting to see a bit of a pattern there....oh, and 3.5 rounded up for the beard. ( )

The suspense was fine, but the characters and their relationship were not my cup of tea. ( )

The third installment of this MC club trilogy left a little to be desired from me. I adored the first 2, and was looking forward to getting to know Max and Joan, but this one didn't ring as true to me. There was sex, some romance and character development, but it moved rather slowly with a LOT of inner dialogue that changed both of these characters 360 degrees in too short of a time.
I enjoyed the authors voice, but the story itself left me wanting more, and differently, for these characters.
*I received an arc from NetGalley for an honest review ( )
