This was a neat graphic novel that gave an interesting look into the world of the Avatar series. I liked that they're continuing the story after Korra's series ended, and the LGBTQ representation was great to see! I'll be honest, writing this review months after I actually read the book leaves me trying to remember the actual plot. There's not a lot of specific details I remember, but I would absolutely recommend it for people that enjoyed Legend of Korra. Oh my word, this was such a fun romp. So much queerness. So many characters I had no idea I missed so much! Fitting that I should read a comic featuring Korra and Asami, whose in-canon romance was revealed on this day 3 years ago. I wanted to talk about the representation in this comic but like I feel like I'll just start GUSHING. Positive female characters. Queer love, queer acceptance, women empowering other women. Women in positions of real, true leadership. Women engineers. And all this positive representation followed through with excellent, loveable, well-formed characters and a compelling plot. From a children's show. That's not supposed to be a snide remark. That's supposed to be a 'look what people can create that is queer-positive, feminist and accessible to children'. I'm so proud of this whole creative team and I really love Irene Koh's artwork. Her art just has a lot of movement and strength, which you need in a comic about people who can bend elements with their chi. If you have time, check out Irene's Twitch channel! https://www.twitch.tv/kohquette I sat in on a stream of hers and learnt so much -- she's very generous with her time and her artwork and I'm just super happy that someone like Irene Koh does the artwork for this series, because I know she loves Korra. I'm so ready for volume two. D: So, I actually cried when Korra and Asami kissed. Like, tears streaming down my face. This is the continuation of their story that my little gay heart needed after the animated series ended. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

"Relishing their newfound feelings for each other, Korra and Asami leave the Spirit World, but find nothing in Republic City but political hijinks and human vs. spirit conflict. A pompous developer plans to turn the new spirit portal into an amusement park, potentially severing an already tumultuous connection with the spirits. What's more, the triads have realigned and are in a brutal all-out brawl at the city's borders--where hundreds of evacuees have relocated! In order to get through it all, Korra and Asami vow to look out for each other--but first, they've got to get better at being a team and a couple!"-- Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
