Farm life and animals are introduced to young readers with textured pages to add a sensory experience.

This book I read to my daycare toddlers this week and they loved the animals in the book. They also enjoyed being able to touch the chick and how soft it was. Some of the younger ones have never seen these animals up close yet and enjoyed reading it. Some of even enjoyed sitting down and going through the book without me looking at the pictures and feeling and touching the things in the book and trying to say the animal names.

This book is a great way for young ones to learn about different animals on the farm. Its has soft fluffy chicks, all the way to a scratchy pig's head that little fingers can feel and explore. This would be a great book for mommy and baby to explore together. ( )

Summary: This book is to teach the children the various types of textures in the world. This book is supposed to get children’s minds flowing and asking questions. This book invites them to discover tactile pages.
Personal Reaction: I liked this book because it gives beginning readers a chance to read a book that gives them that interaction with the book. Children do not want to just read a book, sometimes a book that has texture keeps them entertained and focused.
Classroom Extension Ideas: 1.) Have each student find different textures and try to describe it in four words.
2.) Get a piece of paper and a crayon and color over something that is bumpy or rough to feel the texture on something just like the book.
