Lashea677 | Feb 16, 2019 |   This book is a journey for two people with completely different reputations and growing attractions to each other. Sam is the "bad boy" with a string of one night stands. Faith is a serious "good girl" that everyone adores. Sam's brother even threatens Sam to stay away from her. They both decide to take a chance on each other & keep open minds while ignoring reputations and see what happens. Sam really has to work for this chance which is something he isn't used to. He's used to girls clamoring to go out with him. Faith is afraid of being hurt again but decides she can't keep living that way. However, she keeps thinking this is friends only & tries not to let it get serious. I loved reading this story and seeing them grow into a complete couple by taking a leap of faith. Of course, I adore anything Melissa writes. It was nice to catch up on some of the family members from other stories. This could be read as a stand alone. The rest of the series just adds more back story. You don't want to miss this new addition to the Bradens! But Sam is fighting an uphill battle, you see Faith has the wrong impression of him and thinks that he is a cheater and has no regard for women. But Sam is determined to show Faith that she has the wrong idea about him and now he is out to prove that he is really a man with a heart. Just as Sam and Faith start to develop a relationship, someone from the past comes and threatens to destroy everything! I'm super thrilled that we are back in Peaceful Harbor Braden's and I really did enjoy reading the story of Sam and Faith and checking in with the other Braden's. The story, writing and characters was enjoyable, heartwarming and lovable. I also loved the way that they author has tied in other Braden series and I am just counting down the books till Ty's and then I am going to laugh with glee…But I'm getting ahead of myself. As normal Melissa Foster blows my mind with her talent for telling a story and making the characters in the book feel like they are really your friends! Nobody does irony like Ms. Foster. Faith and Sam shouldn't have a connection. But they do. My guess is because they sense the wounded animal and turbulent emotions each is trying to hide. As they get to know more about each other, the walls start to come down and the healing begins. What starts out as a slow building friendship may have a chance at becoming more. River of Love has the makings of a Lifetime movie with the emotional upheaval of the Hallmark Hall of Fame series. By now, Melissa Foster cannot surprise me. Her stories keep getting better and her characters are rapidly maturing with every novel. (
