Way too much drama.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review

I did not read the first 3 books in this series (I prefer m/m romance and don't read m/f romance). While I think reading those first books would have given me a bit more understanding of the backstory of the characters, everything was described and explained in this book and I did not feel lost or like I was missing any information. I think this book worked pretty well as a standalone for those who aren't interested in m/f romance.

There were a few parts of this story that really annoyed me and brought me out of my comfort zone I do NOT like reading any cheating in my books. Alex kept telling Ian that he supported his confusion and was willing to go slow, but then Alex pushed Ian much farther than he was comfortable. Alex should have listened to Ian, and Ian should have talked to Alex before running off. I hate those types of situations, but sadly in this case I can see how it happened and how a wedge got driven between Alex and Ian. What these dang guys needed was communication. Both Alex and Ian made me really angry, and this definitely dropped my enjoyment of the book by half a star.

The good news is that the rest of the book was awesome! I loved how vulnerable each guy was and how they had to rely on someone else even though they didn't want to. Those situations brought them closer together and created a bond that nothing could break. When they finally got to talking and facing their personal realities and feelings, there was nothing that could stand in the way for these guys. Their insecurities and challenges were valid and real. I enjoyed this book.

Way too much drama.

This just didn’t do it for me on many different levels, but the thing I can’t get over is how many times Alex told Ian that they would take it at his pace right before he pushed it too far. :( ( )
