I have a very hard time believing Kristen Ashley wrote the first 2/3rds of this book.
The writing itself was like reading about paint drying. It was that boring.
How can you make an erotic book so boring?

The writing of Amélie's character lacks passion, emotions and intensity. I hate to say this, but the only word I can find to describe the majority of the writing of this story is soporific.
It literally had me yawning and virtually put me to sleep.

Almost all the erotic scenes have a near doctor/patient quality. Very clinical. Which is peculiar and not in a good way.

As far as suspense, there is very little. In fact, it feels forced and like a second or even third thought.

Towards the end of the book Kristen Ashley's normal writing style starts to show itself. But it is to little, to late. No sass. No intrigue.

As for typos, etc. I only found 2. So that is not a problem.

There are a few instances that start to get you more connected to Oliver and Amélie, then poof, that connection is gone.

I may read the other 2 books in this series in the far, far future. Maybe. But I seriously doubt it.

I still say someone else wrote the majority of this story. The writing style is just that profusely different than any Kristen Ashley book I have ever read.
My favorites are 'Unfinished Hero', 'Dream Man' and 'Chaos' series. So as you can tell, I love my erotica.

Not only did I not love this story, I didn't even like it.

This should probably be 2 stars, but I gave it 3 for some of the erotic scenes towards the end, certain other characters in the book and the end of the story itself. ( )

I wanted to like this , I really did. Generally, this author can pull me in from the get go. I've come to rely on her for my alpha man fix. No one writes characters like this, other than her. Even though I'm respectful of the lifestyle and other people's kinks, this didn't work for me. Not only as it was Amelia that was the Alpha but the fact that Oliver felt wrong. There was so much focus on a certain type of play that I struggled. Not because I'm against it, I'm not, but I wanted more actual story. I hope she goes back to her other style as this is the last series I have of hers to read and only four books left to go before I've read everything. ( )

He's searching for something in his sex life, but isn't certain of what because he hasn't found it yet. They meet at an exclusive club. They want each other at first sight. She loves pushing his boundaries. It's not easy for him to immediately give in to her, but he enjoys being pushed. This is much more sexual than the other books I've read from this author. If you like erotic or BDSM romances, you should check out The Deep End.

Could have been good, but the dialogue was stilted and frustrating. ( )

A little slow to start, then consecutive hot, steamy BDSM scenes. With story and character building in between. She's a Domme and he's and alpha-sub, it's smoking hot. There's drama and blow-ups and it's get better and better as you read. Lots of future character building as well.
