As with its predecessors, I found the story in Zoë and the Fairy Crown somewhat slight, with very little depth. When Zoë and Pip present their presents, for instance, the narrative tells us the Queen was delighted with them, but we never discover what they actually were. The story runs along this way, with everything on the surface, and very little sense of their being anything underneath. The artwork is cute, although not really to my taste. I find that my interest in these books is waning, as I proceed further in the series, so I am grateful that the next installment—Zoë and the Witches' Spell—is my primary reason for reading them in the first place.
I'm not sure I'd really recommend this one, save to those readers who greatly enjoyed the previous two books about this character, and to picture book-readers looking for sweet stories about fairies and other magical creatures. ( )
