"From bestselling author A.J. Banner comes a dazzling new novel of psychological suspense in the vein of S.J. Watson's Before I Go to Sleep and Mary Kubica's The Good Girl that questions just how much we can trust the people around us. Thirty-four-year-old marine biologist Kyra Winthrop remembers nothing about the diving accident that left her with a complex form of memory loss. With only brief flashes of the last few years of her life, her world has narrowed to a few close friendships on the island where she lives with her devoted husband, Jacob. But all is not what it seems. Kyra begins to have visions--or are they memories?--of a rocky marriage, broken promises, and cryptic relationships with the island residents, whom she believes to be her friends. As Kyra races to uncover her past, the truth becomes a terrifying nightmare. A twisty, immersive thriller, The Twilight Wife will keep readers enthralled through the final, shocking twist"--… (plus d'informations)

Been done before with only a different ending. ( )

Interesting storyline; quick read -- you could do it in one free day. I enjoyed it but didn't feel as invested as I often do with books. Entertaining but mostly forgettable.

Good story but my biggest issue with this book was the main female character. In this day and age whiny, needy women just seems so outdated. Maybe it’s just me but the more she complains, the less interested I am in the book. I’m just not one to go for the night in shining armor rescue books. ( )

A satisfying amnesia mystery that presents quite a puzzle but resolves it fully at the end, The Twilight Wife is set on a remote island in the San Juans, off of Washington State, where Kyra Winthrop is recovering from head trauma suffered in a diving accident, trying to make sense of a life with a husband she doesn't remember meeting. Not only has she lost most memories of the past four years, she has trouble remembering events from week to week, which makes her more than usually dependent on the kindness of the island's limited social circle--including her neighbors, a shop keeper, a therapist, and an old man who seems to recognize her, but stops himself and apologizes, saying he was mistaken. Fortunately, everybody is very kind, and seems difficult to suspect. No Wicker Man cult here: everybody is pretty much who they seem to be.

Which isn't to say that there aren't any secrets to be uncovered. Why does happily-married Kyra keep flashing on memories of a different man? Who is that old man who seems to recognize her, but keeps his distance? And isn't husband Jacob just a little too protective at times? Once Kyra begins to unravel the mystery, she realizes she's got some serious adjustments to make. Which start with getting off that island. But the ferries are under repair, and a storm is approaching.

Diverting reading with a great setting and a smart plot. ( )

A different read for me. A mystery, a woman has lost her memory and has to rely on her husband to fill her in.... but when memories resurface, things don't fit together. ( )
