Suspense The story was fine in a cookie cutter way but I read it happily anyway. The way it was told...something was off. It was like nobody cared enough about the story they were telling. They all seemed like they were trying to interject drama to sound less bored. The POV switching to introduce multiple characters and move the plot along can be exquisitely done (ref. "Seven Types of Ambiguity" by Elliot Perlman), but is difficult to do. The author tried and almost, almost made it work. I wanted this device to work! It wound up as too much to keep track of. From Amazon: Zoe Maisey is a seventeen-year-old musical prodigy with a genius IQ. Three years ago, she was involved in a tragic incident that left three classmates dead. She served her time, and now her mother, Maria, is resolved to keep that devastating fact tucked far away from their new beginning, hiding the past even from her new husband and demanding Zoe do the same. Tonight Zoe is giving a recital that Maria has been planning for months. It needs to be the performance of her life. But instead, by the end of the evening, Maria is dead. In the aftermath, everyone—police, family, Zoe’s former solicitor, and Zoe herself—tries to piece together what happened. But as Zoe knows all too well, the truth is rarely straightforward, and the closer we are to someone, the less we may see. THOUGHTS: This one fell flat for me. I wanted to love it, but I just couldn't get there. The characters were flat, the outcome could be seen pretty much from the beginning. I am giving her a 3rd star just because What She Knew was a such a great read. **LEP Read a book from your TBR shelf that was added pre-2017** aucune critique | ajouter une critique
