Alfred Jones's masterful introduction to that volume and to illustrate and describe specifically some of the many important examples belonging to the churches, which he characterizes as little monuments of American history. It also gives me the Opportunity to include much of the silver designed for purely domestic purposes many notable specimens discovered by me in the past ten years in private hands; and to add brief historical accounts of the craftsmen who made the vessels of both classes, as well as of the donors or original owners.
