Fantasy. Fiction. Romance. HTML:

Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town where Halloween is celebrated 365 days a year. The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better.

Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all.

Sebastian Ellingham isn't known for being a happy vampire. And when his long estranged wife comes to town expecting to pick up where they left off, things take a sharp turn toward cranky. Sure he's been protecting her for centuries, but her assumption that he's still available (he is) rankles.

His answer is to hire a woman to play his fiancée. The lucky victim is Tessa Blythe, sister of one of the town's deputies, librarian in need of a job and, oh yes, reluctant Valkyrie. Playing along with Sebastian is all about the end game for her, the position of Dean of Library Studies at the local private academy.

When unexpected sparks fly between them, they agree to mutually deny the attraction. Fate, however, has other plans...… (plus d'informations)

This was maybe my favorite book from the Nocturn Falls series yet. I was picturing Sebastian as Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice and Tessa as this blonde version of a sharp-tongued Kiera Knightly. He's quite cold to her in the beginning, but he has his reasons, and you can't help but sympathize with how he's been wronged in the past. At first I was a little taken aback by how rough around the edges he could be with Tessa... calling her names even, but you couldn't help but root for him to get that HEA he had been looking for and desperately trying to gain back after hundreds of years.

Evangeline made the perfect villianess. She and Sebastian had been tied together as humans by an arranged marriage, but hadn't really been together for hundreds of years, yet Sebastian still felt compelled to care for her for reasons that are slowly revealed over the course of the book.

One of the best things about this (in addition to the cat humor, and I'm not even a cat person) was getting to see more of the Ellingham brothers. This has just left me more curious about Julian and what sort of woman would ever be right for a womanizer who has been conquering them all for centuries. Overall my favorite book of the series to date. ( )

I would say, I liked this one the best so far. Maybe, because there was a lot of me in the heroine... But I liked this. A lot. And I feel like the fast pace here was more believable. Because they were trusting each other out of necessity. These are just getting better and better :) ( )

I really enjoyed this story of the vampire and Valkyrie. So much so that I didn't want to stop listening! Two Supernaturals holding themselves to their customs are faced with an unthinkable task. Trying not to fall in love with one another was impossible. Great character, storyline, and plot development. ( )

Finally Sebastian gets some happiness! He is introverted and so is the new librarian/valkyrie. The nasty vampire he married centuries ago is in town, just as mean and nasty as ever. The story is good, engrossing, and fun. Glad to have read this installment! See publisher's blurb for more clues to plot.
BJ Harrison continues to be the best narrator the folks of Nocturne Falls could have. ( )
