"Falls a raindrop it goes plip plop coming faster drip drop, drip drop
Building in excitement like a summer storm, this playful picture book invites readers to join two young girls as they celebrate the weather. Moving indoors to watch from a safe distance, the children marvel at the thunder and lightning and beat sandbox-bucket "drums" to the rhythm of the rain. When the danger passes, they don yellow raincoats and red galoshes to go out and play in the puddles. The boundless energy of the simple rhyming verse is matched by the childlike watercolor illustrations, which capture the magic of the rain and the delight in the children's faces. Readers who might be frightened of storms will notice that one of the two girls is apprehensive at first, but that the enthusiasm of her friend is reassuring and infectious. Keep this joyful title on hand for reading aloud on stormy days." -- Scholastic, Inc.

This is book shows young children what to expect before, after, and during a thunderstorm. Storms cause many students anxiety and this book uses many happy scenes to help alleviate the feelings of anxiety. The illustrations and text follow the physical changes to an environment before the storm happens. The text reads, “sun is fading dark clouds waiting.” The characters in the book downplay the sounds of thunder by dancing and beating on drums. As the storm dissipates the illustrations get brighter and the characters go outside to play in the rain. Thy rhyming words and phrases make it an easy story to read and listen to. Throughout most of the story to the two main characters are smiling and look very happy, portraying the idea of having fun during a thunderstorm. ( )

The Rain Song is about 2 little girls that are playing out side when it begin the thunder and rain. Their mother comes out and wants them inside in a hurry. So they go inside and play for a few but they want to go outside and play in the rain. So they go outside with their yellow and red boots and play in the rain and eventually the rain stopped and the sun came out. But the girls loved singing their rain song!

I can relate to this book because I was one of those little girls playing in the rain. My cousins and I would play in the rain in the canals and hunt for crawdads because they seemed to come out when it rained!

In the classroom, I can read this book during quiet time on a rainy day. I can also ask my students to draw their favorite time of season. ( )
