READ AND REVIEW: THE BRIDE WORE DENIM BY LIZBETH SELVIG THE BRIDE WORE DENIM BY LIZBETH SELVIG Release Date: July 21, 2015 SYNOPSIS When Harper Lee Crockett returns home to Paradise Ranch, Wyoming, the last thing she expects is to fall head-over-heels in lust for Cole, childhood neighbor and her older sister's long-time boyfriend. The spirited and artistic Crockett sister has finally learned to resist her craziest impulses, but this latest trip home and Cole's rough-and-tough appeal might be too much for her fading self-control. Cole Wainwright has long been fascinated by the sister who's always stood out from the crowd. His relationship with Amelia, the eldest Crockett sister, isn't as perfect as it seems, and with Harper back in town, he sees everything he's been missing. Cole knows they have no future together—he's tied to the land and she's created a successful life in the big city—but neither of them can escape their growing attraction or inconvenient feelings. As Harper struggles to come to grips with new family responsibilities and her forbidden feelings for Cole, she must decide whether to listen to her head or to give her heart what it wants. Can I just say the title drew my attention to the book. It fits Harper's personality perfectly. Harper has never been afraid to stand out. Now she is determined to blend in and make her family proud. At ever turn she is finding that just is not who she is. The things she tries to change are what Cole likes most about her. The problem? Cole belongs to someone else. The Bride Wore is Denim encourages being true to who and what a person is meant to be. Being unique is what makes us special. I received an ARC of this story from Edelweiss for an honest review. (www.goodreads.com/review/list/25556913-isha-coleman) So I have read Liz Selvig books before and I have always enjoyed them, but I hadn’t read any of the Seven Brides for Seven Cowboys series, but I was eager to get started. So this story gets a little confusing, so stay with me. Harper Crockett is one of six sisters, all left their family ranch to get away from their over bearing father. But now they are all back for his funeral, and some issues that their parents have kept from them, has now suddenly been thrust into the spotlight…their ranch is going bankrupt. And while that seems a big deal in itself, Harper is also struggling with her feeling for her father and his constant disappointment in her being an artist…but that is not all that is happening. You see Harper has always had a crush on the neighbor boy Cole. But Cole chose her sister over her when they were back in High School and she is not willing to put her heart out their again. Cole has been working at the Paradise Ranch on and off for the past 3 years, he was doing it to find a way to earn money to buy his family ranch back. But that is not all that as attracted him, his old interest in Harper has swooped back in as fast as she has. But Cole already has two strikes against him; one is by dating her sister in high school. And strike two, is working part time for the oil industry (who are trying to buy rights for Harpers family land). But the key is, will Harper push that aside to be with him, or will she keep throwing up walls. OK, so honestly that is only a small part about what goes on in this book! But I would be here all day if I do and I would also completely spoil the story for you. The story is fantastic, even if it did overwhelm me at times, with just how much information they give you. But I am sure that if I read the series from the beginning, it wouldn’t be that overwhelming. I found the writing smooth and the story VERY detailed, but overall very enjoyable. So for that reason, I have decided to give The Bride Wore Denim a very well deserved 8 out of 10! Fantastic beginning to a new series from this author! After the death of their father all the Crockett sisters have returned to Paradise Ranch. The last person Harper Crockett wanted to see while she was home is Cole Wainright. On again off again boyfriend of sister Mia, and Harper's teenage crush. Cole has known Mia wasn't the woman for him for a while, what he hadn't realized was that her younger sister Harper most definitely was!! This is a wonderful small town romance that has a great set of characters, is well written, and definitely left me wanting more! I can't wait for the next one in the series. I highly recommend this book for everyone! aucune critique | ajouter une critique

They have all come home for their father's funeral and are told that they are in danger of losing the families cattle ranch. Grandma Sadie and Mama Bella have no interest or energy to try and get it back into good financial shape. They leave it to the girls to decide what's going to happen. Oh yea, you know you can't leave a decision like that to a group of emotional and opinionated women....much less sisters.
This story concentrates on Harper, second eldest and the misunderstood, never-accepted artist of the family. Who at times was so idealistic and stubborn I wanted to reach over and back hand her upside the back of her head. All this artist talk but not wanting to really put in any effort to save the ranch she was coming to miss. So busy running from her ghosts to stop and see she needed to be an active part in the resolution of what happens instead of standing on her soap box yelling for others to get things done...and get it done the right way.
We have Cole who is life long friend to all and one time boyfriend of Amelia (the eldest). Little did we expect that it's always been Harper he's really been attracted to. But sister code is in full effect here. He has his own dreams and concerns, he had been in negotiations with Sam Crockett to buy back his families ranch, the Double Diamond....now what's going to happen with that dream. If the girls sell will he even have a chance at it? Or if they lease land to the oil company to save the ranch will it cost him his families legacy seeing as the land with the most potential for a big strike is right where he called home.
It's a good story with drama of separations, car accidents and a cast of supporting characters that you come to think of as part of the Crockett family. Skylar is one kick butt 14 yr. old who once again reminds that sometimes kids do get "it" a little more than adults and when they speak their minds, they take no prisoners.
It wraps up nicely with our happily ever after and a glimpse into the next sister's story...the bossy, organized Amelia. The surgeon with a goal and no one is going to stand in her way. Can't wait to read the next book. ( )
