They met in the most unlikely place, where death and destruction were just as pronounced as the desert heat that surrounded them. Her voice lured him in, but it was her kind heart and understanding soul that anchored his broken one. She stood for everything he detested; yet, his feelings for her were undeniable. She was the light to his dark. Together, they forged an unbreakable bond. But one fateful night destroyed it all and thrust them into a week of hell, leaving them both scarred inside and out. Now two years later, Faith returns to Cade's life unexpectedly, and neither of them can deny the fire that still burns between them, along with the pain, loss, and regret. Fate will test their love and in order to save it, they must face their greatest fears and the past that continues to haunt them. Contains mature themes.… (plus d'informations)

Double Wow! Such a powerful story. Being the third book in this series you already know a lot of the backstory going in. However, you don't know the personal hell these two have been through. Loved traveling the road with them in healing and what brings them together.

Well written and very moving! ( )

The best out of this series. I was drawn to Cade from the first book. There was just something about him. I wanted to know what haunted him.I knew from the previous books what had happened but to get his perspective in this one. Yeah, it was rough. Even getting Faith and her perspective on it was rough. Unlike the other reviews that bashed this for having God or not believing in it, depending on if it was Faith or Cade that was talking here, I never was put off by it as they seemed to be. As someone who is very agnostic in their beliefs and just hearing the word God often makes me roll my eyes and instantly tune out and yet, I never felt inclined to do that here. It wasn't preachy, it wasn't overzealous. I appreciated how it was approached. It wasn't the focus of the story, it was what Faith focused on during an awful time (which was talked about but wasn't graphic) and it made me sympathize with her and be empathetic. She didn't shove it down Cade's throat. In fact, how she and her family were, made me think they have the right idea what it means to be Christian because they put Christ back in it. I loved that these two got to heal. It was much needed for both of them.

I loved Christopher and Ruthie and seeing the secondary characters. My biggest complaint in this story not being rated higher was I expected to see something more in regards to these guys being a real family. I thought I would see an adoption scene or something. Maybe, I am just being greedy but after all this work it seemed like it was missing something. That being said, great story about the power of love and redemption. I also would have liked to see Cooper and Kayla have their story told.

I read this as part of the Men Of Honor Boxset.

I don't know why I wanted so long to read this book. I have read every other book KC Lynn has written. Maybe I thought this one would be too tough? It does have some dark subject matter (kidnapping, rape, torture, murder, child abuse) but if anyone can write a dark book and still leave you with hope, its KC Lynn.
Lynn is now writing a series about the kids. I hope Ruthie gets a book! ( )
