A really fun story that involves anonymous love letters, pining from afar, audacious flirtation, and a lot of friends scheming for each others' happiness. The side plot about the cousin was a bit lost in the muck, but the core romance was really well drawn. Two people, who really click but missed their chance years ago, spend the book relearning each other, slowly growing past their old hurts and foolish pride. ( ) I loved Vivienne Lorret's previous series, Wallflower Weddings, so I was happy to start this new one. I can't say that I didn't like it, but I just didn't find it as good as all the other books I've read from this author. I think the reason for it are the main characters and the back story baggage they both carried almost through the end of the book. On top of that, there was a wager between the hero and his friends that made sense at the start of the story, but lost its effect as the story progressed. I also found it hard to believe that Calliope would fall in love with an invisible man who'd written her a love letter, and then finding out that the same man had written other women as well. And even though our hero grows throughout the book, I still found him lacking. I did find that the story was fast pacing and I also liked the secondary characters, especially hero's friend fun and entertaining. I'm looking forward to their stories. Not bad, but could have been better. Melanie for b2b Complimentary copy provided by the I am super excited to be starting a new series by the amazing Vivienne Lorret, and I wasn’t disappointed in the lease. This is a story where a letter is the most important part. Five years ago Calliope Croft received a love letter, which changed the course of her life. She knew that she could not accept the proposal of marriage from a friend, with such love and passion out there waiting for her…but that was before other people received the letters also. Calliope thinks she knows who sent the letter and not she is out to expose him for the heartless fraud that he is. Gabriel Ludlow aka Viscount Everhart; loves Calliope with all his heart, but her bother refuses to allow him to court her. Now five years later Calliope is back in his life and asking questions; But Gabriel long with three friends have entered in to a stupid wager, with the terms of them remaining bachelors. Add to the mix Calliope’s crazy cousin and that leaves you with a story that is not only heartfelt, but also one that has humor, which for a reader who normally hates romantic-comedies; I have fallen in love with this story. I was blown away by the sheer pleasure of this story. I fell in love with the characters in this book, but my favorites are Montwood and Danvers, they are such riots. Vivienne Lorret has done it again, she has made me fall in love with a whole bunch of new characters, whose stories I am clamoring to find out. I have to say that she has become one of my new favorite historical romance authors, Her stories are from the heart, flawless in there execution and very well researched, which leaves you with a timeless story that you will never forget. With all that being said, I can only give The Elusive Lord Everhart one score… 10 out of 10! aucune critique | ajouter une critique
