( ) This books opens with Ada dealing with her birth as a sentient android. Her wonder as she figures out how the world works, tasting food and smelling smells, and how she feels about her "owner" and liberator Alex is cute. Alex is uncomfortable with her feelings as he thinks she likes him because he is all she has ever known so the plotline is formulaic, especially her leaving him after his rejection of her love. In the background of the love story is the societal problems around robots and sentience, which pressure their relationship. Good characters, including Alex's grandmother and supportive friends, and Ada's robotic friends. Very good artwork by Jonathan Luna too. Alex receives an android as a birthday present from his grandmother. Ada is very life-like but bland. She has no opinions but Alex’s. Prejudice against robots runs strong in society due to a massacre of humans by robots that became sentient. Alex has to decide what he wants to do about Ada, his android, leave her as she is, boring and with no personality, or unlock her sentience? What will the consequences of his decision be? The full color art is lovely and the story line intriguing. What does it mean to be real, is a question we may have to answer someday as our own technology advances. This issue is the one that mad e me question if I could have it in my high school library, as there is a scene of them in bed. There is no direct nudity, but also, no doubt as to what is going on. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
