This is a thriller with several narrators – there seems to be a fashion of this as the last three thrillers that I read also had multiple narrators. It takes place in Swansea and deals with a shooting in a hospital which results in several dead bodies. The story deals with the shooting of a youth, the death of a girl on the M4 and the consequences of both these events The main character is a local journalist called Charlie and a bunch of characters who all know each other for various reasons, either through work or family. The story is told in flashback form and it is important to keep an eye on the dates at the beginning of each chapter. Quite engaging, this novel is well worth a look. I thought this book was right up my street. I love a good psychological thriller, much more than crime and gory thriller type books. Unfortunately, I found Hidden to be quite a difficult read and one which I found impossible to get into pretty much from page 1. It starts with the aftermath of a mass shooting in a hospital and then goes back to 6 days before the incident, focusing on the story from the point of view of a police firearms officer, a reporter, a psychologist who has a niece in the hospital and the shooter, The book jumps around a lot and that's not something that normally bothers me at all, but here I just couldn't get a handle on it all. I'm afraid this one wasn't for me. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
A gripping psychological thriller by a former police psychologist. Perfect for fans of Nicci French, Tana French and S. J. Watson. HE'S WATCHINGA gunman is stalking the wards of a local hospital. He's unidentified and dangerous, and has to be located. Urgently. Police Firearms Officer Aden McCarthy is tasked with tracking him down. SHE'S WAITINGTo psychologist Imogen, hospital should be a place of healing and safety - both for her, and her young niece who's been recently admitted. She's heard about the gunman, but he has little to do with her. Or has he? As time ticks down, no one knows who the gunman's next target will be. But he's there. Hiding in plain sight. Far closer than anyone thinks... Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |

It's a great story though, what would lead someone to open fire in a crowded hospital? What does it have to do with the tragic shooting of a boy almost a year ago? The subplot with Imogen and her sister is also brilliantly done and both stories weave together seamlessly.
I quite enjoyed Falling by the same author but I must admit I thought this latest offering was better and I look forward to more. ( )
