Pretty please with spaghetti on top?

Andy Buckland has always dreamed of being a chef. But after a live studio audience is stricken with food poisoning during her debut cooking show, she finds herself blacklisted in the culinary community. The only job open to her is working in her family's southern pasta shop, and, to make matters worse, her first assignment is serving baked ziti to her former lover and his spoiled bride-to-be at their engagement party! But a broken heart and a bruised ego are the least of Andy's troubles when she discovers a dead body at the party with the words "welcome home" written in flour next to it. Is it a warning? A threat? Or a frame-up job? Andy is determined to find out. With the help of her over-the-top Italian family, Andy will prove that she has what it takes to not only cook the best dish in town but also catch a killer, too!

This is a cute culinary mystery about an Italian pasta shop in North Carolina. The protagonist hopes to give her family's shop some publicity by landing a TV show on the Flavor network. Disaster strikes at her initial taping and sends her scurrying back to her hometown where she reluctantly helps out at the family pasta shop and also learns how dire its straits are. Then, Flavor's big star, Zoltan Farnsworth dies at an event she and he are both catering. By the end of the book, the fate of the pasta shop is looking up.

There are lots of recipes included in the book--one at the end of almost every chapter (some chapters have culinary tips at the end rather than a recipe). The recipes seem involved so I'm not sure I, personally, would tackle them though most sounded good. I would read more books in this series. ( )

We've all had the experience of making a major mistake and heading home to lick our wounds, well that's exactly what Andy Buckland does when on the debut of her cooking show, the live audience gets food poisoning. But when she goes home things just seem to get worse.

She rear ends an SUV driven by a gorgeous guy while she looks like s***, she's hired to cater a party by her worst enemy from High School and it turns out to be the engagement party of that same enemy and her ex-boyfriend, and last, the family business is near bankruptcy and they want her to save it.

How can she do that when she is a suspect in the murder of the pastry chef who witnessed her TV downfall?

The characters were fun but the mystery was a little on the light side. ( )

Delicious. Never before have i called a book that but good lord you will savor the story as well as the recipes in Murder Al Dente.

Not sure how Jennifer Hart does it, but she writes as if you are one of her pals and you're hanging out while she is making pasta. The characters ( in the two books i've read ) are so well fleshed out that you expect to close the book and see them in your living room.

This is a 'cozy' novel about a celebrity chef who returns home to try and save a family restaraunt as well as to lick her wounds from a televised recipe dud! As usual there is wit, alluring men, a female lead character you'd want for a bestie, and guess what... Mouth-watering recipes-i think MY book has drool on those pages.... ( )

To my critique partner-in-crime, Saranna DeWylde, who read every stinking version of this book until it was a book worth reading, all because she believed it could be so. Love you, doll.
