This story centers around one day in the life of Ryan, a high school English teacher, and his best friend Sam, a prize winning romance author. Ryan has harbored unrequited love and lust for his best friend for as long as he can remember and he’s never acted on it.
I think I have a new favorite couple. Ryan and Sam are definitely a hot pairing. Getting ahead of myself, but I would have loved to see Ryan's students reactions if he introduced Sam to the class. I imagine the female students squeeing and giggling, especially if they found out the two were boyfriends.
Now getting back to the review, I have to say I really enjoyed this book. It’s a smooth fast read that turns into pretty much PWP. Just Between Us is well written and is easy to read. The sex is hot as well.
There were only a few things that kept it from being a five star read for me. The book started with the scene centered in the classroom and I was confused thinking the book was YA instead of an M/M erotic read. I also felt the classroom scene was too long and could have been shortened considerably.
Another part I didn’t like was a technical issue. The spacing between the paragraphs was too wide even when I tried to adjust it. The wide gaps slowed down the easy flow of the story and made it jerkier to read as my eyes jumped to the next paragraph.
Just Between Us was mostly told from Ryan’s pov, but every once in a while it switched to Sam’s and then back again. I would have preferred it stick to Ryan’s pov or else have clear delineations of when the character viewpoints changed.
I enjoyed this short story and would recommend it to anyone who likes a smooth, well written, mostly PWP story of friends turned to lovers. I give this 4 Stars
