I didn't want to read this book. I just wanted to look at pictures. I almost had a chance to ditch the book after the introduction...it was just awful. I was just was going to look at the pictures and not read the text but I did both. If you look at Vogue (America) the fashion shoots seem to fall in a ruttish pattern. What worked in an October photo spread is carried over the next month. W does great with their photo spreads and that was the basis for looking for something new, fresh and different in fashion photography. This book did not disappoint. Most of the photographers are non American, and some still use film. Their work is challenging. Their work causes you to look at the image and understand what the photographer is presenting, keeping the clothes, and models as secondary. Some famous models do appear in this book yet their images are items I have not seen. Books like this are taken for granted when it comes to reading. I hope people will expand what their view of a book and stretch, like these photographers do see books and fashion photography in a different light.
