This is a science fiction picture book about a little robot on his way to the farm with his family. Some sheep cut his family off on the drive and cause their car to get stuck in a ditch. Doug, the little boy, learns about the farm by experiencing it instead of learning about it through technology. He helps a little girl with all her chores on the farm and comes up with a way to help his family pull the car out of the ditch. This is an amazing science fiction book about a young robot named Doug and his family who are traveling to see the grandbots (his grandparents). As they head out all the robots "plug in" to the car and are able to access information about a farm through what appears to be the internet. On their way a flock of sheep jump out in front of their car causing them to steer into a ditch. Doug immediately "unplugs" and gets out of the car to help the girl (who is chasing the flock) gather them all together. Unfortunately Doug's parents don't know how to get their car out, so Doug helps the girl with the rest of her farm errands. Doug realizes how much he loves being "unplugged" and helping his new friend. He gets to enjoy what it is really like to be working on a farm rather than reading about it. Doug thinks of an innovative way to get the car out of the ditch using the horse on the farm. When everyone in Doug's family gets back into the car and "plugs in" he chooses to stay "unplugged." When he tells his grandbots all that he did they are so proud of him being "unplugged." aucune critique | ajouter une critique
