It's no secret that I like the use of shifting timelines when they are done well. I can't say the shifts done in this story were necessarily bad, but the ones done early on in the book did not seem as well done as the ones later on. The early shifts had me pausing for a bit before I was able to figure out what was going on. It didn't help that I downloaded the mobi to my Kindle app on my iPad and there was no space left between the end of one "scene" and the start of another to clearly mark shifts. I eventually figured out that a period had been placed before the first word of the paragraph that started new scenes.
Ordinarily things like this would bug the ever-loving hell out of me, but I simply enjoyed the story too much! I have just found one more type of Sterek story: the kind of story with a very human Stiles who not only manages to hold his own, but who manages to surprise the hell out of whatever supernatural bad guy was stupid enough to underestimate him.
I also got a kick out of the sheriff finally seeing Stiles in all his badass glory. ( )
