Keiko gets sent to live with her great-grandparents and cousins. She is sad. She misses her home. She doesn't fit in at first and she doesn't do any of her chores right. She befriends her cousin and great-grandmother. Her great-grandfather is a bit hard on her. She spills rice and other stuff. At one point in the story her cousin is mad at her. She makes it better with leaves and food. It is fantasy when she dreams and/or is somehow transformed or is dreaming (into/about being) a princess. That is entirely fantastical. I feel like I have also written about this before but I forget where. She sings with a bird. Eventually her parents come back to get her and they say she looks different(in a good way). There is also a toad throughout the book and other mystical stuff. As she is leaving she says she will miss her cousin and great-grandparents. I still feel like I have written about this somewhere else already. Weird. Parts of the story are confusing too. ( )
