Review: This book is all about how the king borrows ducks jelly beans and never gives them back. Duck then goes in search of the king to get them back. On his journey he keeps running into his friends on the road. They each wish they could go with him but something is always stopping them. Duck keeps having the idea to have them shrink down and fit into his pocket. When he gets to the palace he keeps having problems but his friends that he took with him are able to help him each time.

Uses: This book illustrates how having lots of friends can help us out in the end. It shows that we can rely on each other and this would be a great lesson for all elementary children to learn.

Genre: Fantasy- This book fits into the fantasy genre because there is a talking dog, talking duck, talking water, and a talking ladder.

I loved the book You Can't Have Too Many Friends! by Mordical Gerstein. The characters are very believable and well developed for such a short book. The plot is simple, but is organized and demonstrates suspense, tension, conflict, and resolution. The illustrations enhance the story and the language from the text. The book pushes readers to think about how important it is to have friends. The message of the book is to be nice to people and they will be nice back to you. ( )
