Also a pretty big secondary storyline following a girl from Afghanistan trying to escape the Taliban, felt a bit out of left field. This was my first foray into the series, which you could start here because there is nothing confusing but you won't feel emotional attachment to the characters. Wanted the hero and heroine to spend more time together and didn't feel like I ever got to know the hero but writing was good and as a Kindle Freebie, it did its job of interesting me enough to look into other books in the series. Takes place in Montana but still had a slight western feel. Continuing in the Chance Creek Series. Rose has been engaged to Jason for 6 years. He's living in North Dakota, rarely visits and the relationship is going nowhere. Rose works in his father's shop, lives in an apartment on his father's property and looks after his father. Finally, she say enough and moves out - she's had enough of people telling her what to do. Cab has been waiting for her to break her engagement before making his move - but he's an overwhelming presence that wants to care for Rose and keep her safe - the opposite of what Rose wants. The Cowboy Catches a Bride by Cora Seton is a 2014 Once Acre publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Rose has been engaged to Jason since her high school graduation. Now the two are trying to work out a long distance relationship and it's becoming more difficult to maintain it. However, Rose is in a tough spot. She is living on her fiance's father's property and working in his store. If she breaks things off with Jason she won't have a place to live or work. Cab, the local Sheriff would love to help Rose, but right now she is on a fierce independent streak. So, Cab waits as patiently as possible for her to decide what to do about Jason and give her some space to be on her own for awhile. Meanwhile, Cab is working on a tough case and it really has him worried. Rose thinks he is trying to control her, but really he just wants to keep her safe. The alternate side of the story is about a woman named Fila who is on the run from the Taliban and trying to make it to Chance Creek. The question is: Who is Fila and why is she trying to get to Montana? What is her connection to Chance Creek? This installment of the Chance Creek Cowboys is a little more edgy that some of the previous books in the series. Rose was raised in such a way that she always does what others want her to do. Her parents, Jason , her future father-in-law and now it feels like everyone is crowding her. Knowing deep down that she needs to make a change has her feeling a little hyper-sensitive to well meaning advice and offers of help. She may be just a little sheltered and has few options open to her since few have ever really encouraged her do pursue her dreams as an artist. She wants to be with Cab in the worse possible way, but she doesn't want to jump from one relationship to the next. She needs some space to figure out what her future holds. The story of Fila is tense. Throughout most of the book we have no idea what her connection is to Chance Creek, but we do know she's living life on the run from some really dangerous people and she could lead them to Chance Creek too. I'm still really engaged in this series and each book maintains the momentum so I am looking forward to the next book! This one gets 4 stars! aucune critique | ajouter une critique

I wanted to like this but there were too many different characters and stories going on at once. It was good in parts but left me pretty frustrated.
I still appreciate the author and her dedication to the craft. ( )
