(Book #3: Boys of the South Series)
Source: Author
Rating: 5/5 stars
OK, there is no denying my intense and deep love for the Boys of the South series!! I just can’t seem to get enough of these characters and their stories and True for You is absolutely no exception to this rule. Thus begins the gushing. . .
True for You opens with a very hung over Jackson Morgan (aka country superstar Jaxson Hunter) in bed with his new wife, Bliss. WTH?? As the morning dawns, Jackson’s head is pounding and the night before is nothing but a fuzzy mess. Thankfully, Bliss was stone cold sober the night before and is able to explain to Jackson that they did, in fact get married the night before in the bait and tackle shop. So classy!! BUT, according to Bliss, they did not consummate the marriage so if Jackson wants to annul the union, there is still time and an out. WOW!! Just what every girl hopes her wedding will be
For Bliss, marriage to Jackson is actually a dream come true. To say her life up to this point has sucked still wouldn’t even get you in the ball park. Her parents are dead, foster care was an epic fail and, being beaten and then homeless is not ever a good thing. Bliss has survived what most can’t even imagine yet, through it all she has retained her ability to see the good in others, even her jackass husband, Jackson. Though she knows her “marriage” is something of a farce, it is something she desperately wants to make work. In her heart, Bliss knows Jackson is a good man, he just needs to be reminded of the good inside of him.
Jackson Morgan is miserable and that misery has very little to do with the hang over. He has beautiful homes, expensive cars, a boat, more money than he can spend in several lifetimes and, fame beyond reason. On the surface, Jackson has it all but in the quiet when he has time to think, Jackson realizes how very little of significance is in his life. And then, there is Bliss. Not his type, not at all!! But, Bliss is patient, sexy as hell and for some unknown reason, believes in Jackson. All Jackson has to do is get his crap together and become the man Bliss wants and needs him to be. The only thing standing in his way is his evil father/manager, his equally evil mother and, a life time of bad habits. Should be easy to manage, right?
The Bottom Line: True for You tore me the hell up!! Though I wanted to feel sorry for Bliss and all that she has been through, she just wouldn’t stand for such nonsense!! Bliss is strong and courageous and even though she takes a lot of crap off Jackson, she stands by her belief in him. Jackson is an ass and though I had no desire to like him, Valentine once again worked her magic and changed my mind. In so many ways, Jackson’s struggle has been as hard as Bliss’s and his road to redemption has been long and difficult. When Jackson and Bliss finally make to the other side of awful, they come out closer than ever and a beautiful couple. Valentine simply has a gift for putting together very good stories with characters who immediately grab on to you and won’t let go until you love them. All in all, True for You is another excellent addition to the Boys of the South Series. Rock on, Marquita Valentine!!! ( )
