Arrived Lausanne It's not the stories of the Wall Street tycoons which will resonate with you, but the stories of the ordinary mailman, and young newly weds whose lives are forever changed in the Midwest. It feels more like a soap opera than a history lesson, but surely this book deserves more attention then it receives. I passed it on to a friend, and already a list of 10 people are waiting to read this sad tale. 3300. The Day the Bubble Burst: A Social History of the Wall Street Crash of 1929, by Gordon Thomas and Max Morgan-Witts (read Mar. 25, 2000) I liked these authors' Pontiff, so thought I would read this 1979 book of theirs. The final chapters are quite good, but the authors write down to their readers something awful. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
The New York Times bestseller that tells the story of an overheated stock market and the financial disaster that led to the Great Depression of the 1930s. A riveting living history about Black Tuesday, October 29, 1929. Captures the era, the intoxicating expectancy, the hope that ruled men's heart and minds before the bubble burst and the black despair of the decade that followed.
