Pretty good! I got this one either for free or super cheap and those are often a bit iffy if not downright bad. I've had it for a while without reading it because of that and because it's self-described as a cozy. It was not my idea of a cozy at all. Good female character who is forced out of her depression over a failed marriage and ultimately proves to herself how strong she is once she is sucked into a mystery that she can't let go. ( )

The suspicious death of a muckraking newspaper editor in San Francisco leads the ex-wife of one of his prime targets to investigate further, revealing a snake's nest of corruption and double dealing.

Not quite a romance and not quite a cozy mystery. ( )

This book was terrific throughout! I couldn't keep from wondering who done it the entire time! When the killer was revealed I was in shock! Highly recommend for any lover of a good cozy mystery! ( )

Maggie Longstreet has been traded in for a younger version by her ambitious husband. An acquaintance commits suicide out of the blue, just as Maggie is succeeding to end her depression from her divorce. Set in the 70's,a depressed, angry divorcee turns into a believable competent investigator. Throw in attractive, much younger men who are a lot more fun than her stodgy ex-husband, Richard ,who could have never dreamed to be so adorable. Witty, sly, this mystery covers it all. There were no side plots to distract me, as some novels do.

This is a great novel for today's woman who fills a weak extension of her husband and becomes an independent woman who finds her inner strength. We need more stories like this for women to know their worth. ( )
