I received a pitch to review Silk Armor earlier this year and I will admit to having some reservations. However, the setting of the story and the idea of forbidden romance was enough to grab my interest and entice me to take a chance on Silk Armor by Claire Sydenham. I admit to struggling a bit to find the desire to pick it up once I received it - the cover lacks interest for me and my reservations about reading a book from a small press seemed to grow stronger as I read a few duds from bigger publishers. I ended up landing somewhere in the middle - I enjoyed Silk Armor to an extent, but there were a few things in the book that pressed my pet peeve buttons.
