Where did all this stuff come from? I don't have time for a life. I need to get away! Ever feel this way? Society is quick to fill our minds and homes with all the latest gadgets, tools, obligations, and entertainment, but what happens when it all doesn't fit? The Simple Living Handbook is a how-to memoir about creating a life that has space for what really matters to you.

Lippincott offers practical suggestions for paring down possessions in several key areas—toys, clothes, kitchen—as well as limiting unnecessary commitments. Her suggestions take the form of major projects (for instance, assembling all the kids’ toys in one place), but even readers who aren’t interested in major projects may find some ideas for adjusting their thinking. The author is a devout Christian, but religious references are generally confined to the beginning and end of the book. As a secular reader, I found the idea of God as the moving force to be off-putting… but I still might try her idea for organizing my wardrobe. ( )
