General: Wonderfully sexy, broody characters collide with a book that almost seems like a two part plot. I wanted to give this amazing book 5 stars but half way through I began to feel a little bit of a drag in the story line. Highlander’s are always sexy but Laura brings a whole new brand of hot by making him a little something more than a Scotsman. Every character, description and set of dialogue in the book are fantastic. I could close my eyes and picture everything from her adorable kittens to the hotter than hot sex scenes in locations that I won’t tell for spoilers! The characters worked marvelously together, all tied to each other and filled with wonderful unique interactions.

The only drawback I had with the book was that it appeared to have two climax’s- neither of which I can actually share in lieu of spoiling the story lines, you’ll just have to read on through the amazing descriptions, sexy outfits and playful side scenes to find out just what I mean. Ordinarily when I am in love with a book I think they end to soon. But in this instance there was so much jam packed into the first half that when I realized I had only read half I was a little disheartened and ready to move onto the next in the book. That being said I want to point out nothing in the first half was overdone, I never once felt it was too long or surplus scenes. It was simply that I was so in love with the first half that when it kept going a little of it felt forced. I will absolutely be picking up the 2nd one in this 4 part series!

Characters: Elena- Elena is one of the most wonderfully written characters I have read in a long time. From the first page she was was an easy voice to follow, compassionate, strong and logical. Then you get to watch her shift a bit to sexy, determined and magical. Elena’s willingness to sacrifice everything for a man she just met is characteristic of every romance novel out there, but done beautifully in Highland Shift.

Faolan- Faolan is one absolutely sexy Scot. He is everything we’ve been told to believe a sexy Highland male is- protective, strong, deep sexy accent, and brooding. With a secret to hide Faolan’s story is tragic to say the least and the character drips with pain and sacrifice, as well as lust and love. I wish when we had gone inside his head for narration we could have gone deeper than surface actions with this Highlander but that sure won’t stop me from putting him high up in my list of sexy book males.
