I can see either incorporating this into a textbook curriculum in a school setting, or using it to follow a less formal science spine in a homeschool situation. The book is primarily targeted for classroom use, however.Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I loved this book. It is so user friendly and chocked full of useful ideas. My own graduate program was not as helpful as reading this book. I feel that so often the teaching of science gets the short shrift. Teachers: Incorporate and integrate science today! Sponsor your school's science fair! Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. I received this book via Early Reviewers. WOW! This book has so many resources to use as a teacher. The book is written to follow completely through (front to back), but I can't help (as most teachers can't) to just pick and choose some of my favorite resources and activities! I love how this book gives great ideas, advice, and (most importantly) RESOURCES! Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. This science teaching guide for grades four through eight provides a structure for teaching science topics that the students choose. Students choose a topic for the year, helping to ensure that they will be invested in it. This guide provides a method for developing knowledge around the topic. Reproducible worksheets include in the text support the learning process including hypothesis building, research, and debate skills among others Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. I do believe that Nancy Heilbronner has been a fly on my wall during discussions about our Science Fair! Her introduction about the disadvantages compared to the gain for students are words that came right out of my mouth. I quickly read through this book and sent off the booklet pages to district print shop for next year. I am planning a thorough and deep reread this summer before I implement the GEM projects next year. This book is focused on student projects which create authentic learning experiences. This summer I'm in a series of science professional development with other teachers, and was happy to share this title. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
"Let's Be Scientists!" takes a novel approach by identifying the skills that practicing scientists use and then providing a framework for teachers to integrate these skills into their classrooms. Using the book, teachers will learn how to lead students through scientific investigations and how to encourage debate, collaboration, and communication-all without sacrificing content. With numerous easy-to-understand examples and reproducible forms, this book providesteachers what they need to build an exciting science classroom. In the end, classrooms will become science labs, and students will become junior scientists, practicing science in the most authentic manner possible.
