I downloaded this about a year ago, and it got lost in the shuffle of books I wanted to read. So I finally read it last week.

I thought it was a good police procedural. The identity of the killer was not easy to guess, although by the end I had my suspicions. The characters were interesting, and a further partnership between Kane and Thorne could be fun to read. I do want to find out what was going on with the tongues at the end. (

Emma Kane was a good cop, and to prove it, she was hired as an FBI agent. But her first assignment shackled her with a retired agent who had a hang up on another case...The Mercy Killings. But the case they were put on together was that of a child killer. Jacob Thorne was a tough, no nonsense guy and didn't work well with others. But he was always right and that made everyone look up to him for his expertise. Cue the crime scene where immediately after months of nothing, Thorne decides they have two killers on their hands, the Iceman and his copycat. He and Kane work together to find the killers and wait for it...the twist.
Awesome book. Completely captivating from first page to last. And the twist, well, what can I say...didn't expect that. (

Creatures of Appetite is a thriller centred around the hunt for the Iceman, a killer of children. It clips along at a good pace and the story unfolds nicely. It goes a little crazy at the end, but it worked well.

I have a minor issue with the writing. There is some tense confusion, although looking at the pattern I think it might be a style thing. Either way it didn't work for me and spoiled what was otherwise a well written book. However you shouldn't let that put you off as it is a enjoyable staory, especially if you enjoy tales of serial killers. (
