Sweet and gentle, this is a story about two men who have secretly been longing for each other and fantasizing about the other for more than five years. Dominic, a lawyer, was married and pretended to be straight, and Reagan, a chimney sweep, thought he wasn't good enough for Dominic. Even though the marriage no longer stands in their way since Dominic got a divorce, there are more than enough obstacles left for the men to struggle with.

Dominic may have come out to his family, but he isn’t very self-confident. He has lusted after Reagan since they first met, but doesn’t have the courage to do something about his attraction. This year's pre-Christmas visit to get the fireplace ready is different because Dominic is available, but he still doesn't manage to speak up while Reagan is there. And when Dominic admits his feelings in a drunken phone call in the middle of the night, he gets scared of what he did and almost loses Reagan anyway.

Reagan has dreamed about Dominic for years, but believes he is straight. He is also afraid of misunderstanding the man's signals, and of not being enough. It's a miracle he ever makes a move – and even though Dominic was drunk when he told Reagan the truth, Reagan decides it is enough of an "excuse" to go and investigate. I was cheering him along the whole time!

When the two men come together they are gentle and careful at first, but the underlying passion comes through loud and clear. If you like books with lots of fantasizing before the main characters make things happen in reality, if you enjoy following the tender explorations of the beginning stages of new love, and if you're looking for a sweet, gentle read then you will probably enjoy this short book.
